Our challenge

Whilst the conversion to renewable energy was a positive step for the plant, it also meant significant changes for the site, employees, supply chain partners and the local community. It became clear that continuous two-way engagement and information-led activities were needed at both an internal and community level to maintain support for the project and answer queries. Running parallel to this was a lack of understanding of the use of biomass wood pellets as a low-carbon energy source with a strict sustainability criteria.

Our Results

With our activity, Lynemouth Power Limited engaged with twelve core audience groups from the UK Government to local authorities and industry leaders, through to environmental groups, residents and employees, as well as regional and national media. Across the campaign, we delivered regular educational messages and set up dialogue with stakeholders at key stages of the project. This aided the global launch of the Glasgow Declaration of Sustainable Bioenergy at COP26 where Lynemouth Power Limited partnered with twelve international wood bioenergy organisations to announce a world-first standard with sustainability principles at its core.
