With unlimited toppings, killer cocktails and riotous tunes, Pizza Punks creates culinary anarchy.

The restaurant chain appointed Karol to hit the ground running and deliver communications for its Newcastle opening.

With a target audience of 18-35 year olds and a tight turnaround, we decided that a combined approach using social media, regional media, and influencers would be the most effective way to achieve our overall goal: gain a positive profile and bums on seats.

Our challenge

With new bar and restaurant openings in Newcastle outpacing London, the culinary scene was booming. Another new restaurant risked being overlooked. For the greatest chance of success, we had to create significant excitement – creative PR and social media content was key! Competitions and giveaways, video content, ‘pizza drops’ to major media outlets, business and student activations and influencer engagement were all part of the plan. We used previews to invite employees from local tech and creative companies – a target demographic. For the media event, bespoke invitations were designed and issued to journalists, bloggers and influencers.

Our Results

130 people attended non-media preview events, including employees from leading regional tech firms. We filled the restaurant with 105 media and influencers for the opening preview event. We secured media coverage across all local titles, achieved 12 positive restaurant reviews and huge engagement across social media, including 1.7K new Instagram followers in 1 month (+1150%), a 300% increase in avg. likes per post, 16.3K Twitter impressions (+385.4%) and 1.4K profile visits (+82.5%).
